Tommy Wheeler was born in Kentucky as the only child of Lena and Palmer Wheeler. His father, Palmer, spent many years singing in quartets for Vaughan and Stamps before becoming a music teacher and choral director at Freed-Hardeman College. He later became a full time gospel minister for Churches of Christ. Tommy possessed the same musical and directing talents as his father. After graduating from ACU with a degree in Music and later from Texas Tech with a Masters degree, he followed a career in band and orchestra music, directing bands in public schools before spending most of his life working in banking. However, singing and writing gospel hymns has always been his passion. He has written hundred’s of hymns, most notable of these is “I Love the Lord” found in most Church of Christ Hymnals for the last forty years. You will truly enjoy these hymns by Tommy Wheeler and some co-written by his cousin Max Wheeler.
